7 days, 8 nights on board of Mermaid II liveaboard diving & exploring the best that Indonesia has to offer...
truly a memorable trip!
First thing we noticed was the sheer abundance of corals and sponges that nearly dwarfed my "standard" (Similan)
see what I mean???
another striking feature was the diversity of marine life and the presence of some never-seen-before (personally) species...
other creatures are common to Thailand too (like this porcelain anemone crab), yet the black volcanic sand in some areas make an excellent background making them stand out even more....
here's a picture of my first "first-timer" of the trip: a Saw Blade Shrimp!
an old occasional encounter of the past: leaf scorpion fish (seen once in Fiji in 2006 and once in Koh Haa in 2007)
giant tube worm with a clown crab, seen all over Lembeh Strait back in 2008... yet an amazing photo subject...
it seems that no muck/macro diving can be defined as such without a pigmy seahorse... (seen in the Philippines in 2007, Lembeh in 2008 and Bali-Komodo 2010)
diving near an active volcano! incredibly warm sand + steam coming out of the sand giving this unreal underwater "sea-scape"...
night dive with another old friend from the Philippines and Lembeh: Stargazer! so ugly it becomes beautiful...
another "first" for me: Bobtail Squid
shit happens: Hawkfish with a parasite feeding off its head and gills...
3rd of the 5 personal "first-timers": Coral Cat Shark, so cute!
many more pictures to come... now I have to go...
